Welcome to the domain seller verification

Confirm your identity so that we can securely, quickly, and easily pay out the proceeds from domain sales to you in the near future. By providing personal information, you help keep Sedo's marketplace secure and compliant.

Be part of globally secure domain trades!

Once the transition is complete towards the end of the year, the payouts will be handled by our partner Adyen - one of the leading payment service providers worldwide. We have chosen Adyen because they offer the most currencies and the largest coverage worldwide along with meeting all the legal requirements.

Why is verification important?

The European directives on money laundering law require that all EU-based companies involved in financial transactions must take preventive measures against money laundering and terrorist financing. One of these measures is customer verification and the process of getting verified as a domain seller at Sedo is for free and takes just a few minutes. Once you have completed this process, you will be able to receive payments for your domain sales.

Frequently asked questions

1. What do I have to do to verify myself?

We will notify you by e-mail as soon as your Sedo account is ready for your seller verification. To complete your verification online, log in to your account. Under "My Sedo" we have included a note on your seller verification. Follow the instructions there and you will be taken directly to our payment service provider Adyen where you can enter all the required information.

2. What information is required for the verification?

Which documents and information are required depends on many factors, such as your country of residence or your legal form (company, individual, sole proprietorship).

  • Personal information such as first name, surname, address and/or company data
  • Payment data for payouts (bank details)
  • Optional personal documents, e.g. identity card or passport and/or your bank confirmation.

The more complete your data and documents are, the faster verification can be carried out. We will inform you regularly by e-mail about the status of your verification, which you can also view in your customer account under "My Sedo".

3. How long does it take until I am successfully verified?

Most of your details are verified in real time by our payment services provider. It can therefore take only a few seconds at best until you receive a message about your successful seller verification, or a maximum of 2 days.

4. Can I interrupt the seller verification and continue at a later date?

Yes, you can save an intermediate status at any time and come back later to continue or complete your seller verification.

5. By when do I have to verify myself as a seller?

At the moment, nothing will change for you and the current payout process will remain the same. However, the sooner you start with your seller verification, the smoother we can make the payout process as soon as the changeover has taken place. As soon as the changeover for payouts is known, we’ll inform you by email.

6. Do I have to get verified as a private person or only as a commercial seller?

As a domain seller, you must verify your identity as both a private individual and a commercial seller (self-employed, business), depending on the role in which you are trading. The required information and documents may vary from country to country.

7. What do I need to consider as a Business Owner?

If you are a business customer, please note the following: By providing the information about the "Business owner" under "Edit → Personal details → Role" at least one person from the company must have activated the role called "Signatory". This can either be the owner himself or another person. Example: A company has only one owner. Therefore the checkboxes "Owner" AND "Signatory" must be activated in order to be able to complete the verification process.

8. Why do I have to get verified with the payment service provider Adyen?

Full verification is a legal requirement for our payment processor, in order to release the funds collected from your domain sales. The more complete your data and documents are, the faster the payment can be made to you.

9. How will I receive future payouts?

Currently, we haven't specified a date for direct payouts through our payment service provider. We will promptly inform you once we have a specific date. After the changeover is complete, the process will follow this sequence: Upon completion of your verification, payouts will typically be processed on the next working day Subsequently, the payout will be directed to the bank account you have on file.

10. Can I choose PayPal for my payouts?

Yes, PayPal will still be available to domain sellers in most countries. You can continue to use PayPal for parking and brokerage transactions without any changes in all countries.

If you have been asked to complete the KYC process, PayPal will slowly be phased out for marketplace transactions (Sedo website & SedoMLS) and external transfers. In these cases, PayPal will be replaced by local bank deposits such as SEPA, rather than direct wire transfers. Local bank deposits are a cost-effective, efficient, and secure method of receiving payouts.

During the KYC process, you will be able to set up your bank deposit information for payouts, ensuring a smooth transition from PayPal to local bank deposits for future transactions.

11. How can I check the status of my verification?

As soon as you have received our request to start your seller verification, you can check the status in your Sedo customer account at any time.

  1. Log in to your Sedo customer account.
  2. Under "My Sedo" you will find a note about your verification status.
  3. If necessary, follow the instructions provided there to complete the verification.
