Up until June 25, 2019, all owners of domains with the ending .co.uk or .org.uk were able to register the corresponding second-level domain with the ending .uk. For example, the owner of bl.co.uk would have been able to register bl.uk before anyone else, thus ensuring that someone else would not take the domain.
But now this five-year “grandfathering” phase is over. If you have not made use of your privilege, or simply did not know about it, you can try to register .uk domains via the regular registration process beginning July 8, 2019.
After July 8, the remaining .uk domains will be available to the general public.
At Sedo, you can already find a huge selection of premium domains with the ending .uk. Everything from single-digit letter domains like n.uk, descriptive domains like privacy.uk, and many more. Our pro tip: In order for your portfolio to be complete, it is best to check whether your desired name is available for sale under both .uk and .co.uk.
Was your desired .uk domain already registered and isn't listed for sale at Sedo? Then we have a solution for you: Our brokers will attempt to negotiate with the owner on your behalf, ensuring an anonymous and professional attempt at an acquisition.
