How does Sedo verify my ownership of a domain?

Sedo's system checks a member's Sedo account details and compares those with the information listed in the public Whois database.  If Whois information is unavailable, or the owner has opted to use a privacy protection service, this process must be completed manually.

Ownership verification may take several business days to complete, and the seller may be asked to confirm access to the Administrative Contact (Admin-C) email address provided in the Whois records for the domain.  To help expedite the process, privacy protection services may be temporarily disabled, or the Whois records updated with the email address listed in the Sedo account. If you are interested in parking the domain, we recommend that you update the DNS settings.

Please note:  If a domain was recently registered, the Whois database takes a short time to be correctly updated; listings may be rejected if a domain appears as unregistered.

If you experience delays in the ownership verification process or have questions about it, please contact Sedo's Security and Compliance staff.

If you don't want to wait, the quickest way to verify your domain is to do the ownership self-verification method - just copy your ownership verification ID and enter it at your registrar. For details on how to do this, please see here.
