What are the regulations for registering .CN domains?

The Chinese registrar, CNNIC, released their latest regulations for the registration of .cn, .中国/ and .中國  domains in 2012.

From 28 May 2012, any individual or organization in the world that can bear independently civil liabilities, has the right to apply for .cn domain registration under the implementing rules of CNNIC.

In summary:

*For individuals worldwide, a scanned copy of the registrant's proof of identification (e.g. passport/ID card, driving license, etc.) is required.
*For business entities registered in China or in other countries, a scanned, color copy of the registrant's business certification is required.

In addition, buyers who have Chinese citizenship, must choose and use a CNNIC accredited domestic Chinese registrar to receive transferring of the domain; in contrary, buyers who don't have Chinese citizenship, must choose and use a CNNIC accredited Oversea registrar.

Once a .cn domain is transferred into your chosen CNNIC accredited Registrar, the speed of updating the ownership depends on the auditing process and its speed from your registrar.

Please make sure you contact your registrar for full details of the documentation required to complete registration and transfer before you agree to purchase a domain name.
