Keyword and Related Links Selection Policy
Version: November 2023
Keyword and Related Links Selection and Parked Pages
When a Sedo user enters a new domain into Sedo’s Parking Program, they may manually choose a suitable and appropriately associated keyword or related links via the "Parking" page of the user's account. Once a related keyword or related links have been entered in connection with a domain name, Sedo may share the keyword or related links with our advertising partners to help them display relevant advertisements based on the keyword or related links. Sedo does not maintain any control of the specific advertisements or links provided by our advertising partners, and the advertiser may not factor the keyword or related links when selecting appropriate advertisements for your domain. Please note that the advertisements displayed are subject to change each time a parked page is viewed.
Keyword and Related Links Relevancy
The most important factor in keyword or related link selection is relevancy. A domain name paired with an irrelevant keyword or related links may not deliver content that is targeted to the subject matter of that domain. It is against Sedo’s Domain Parking terms to submit keywords or related links that would generate advertisements that are unrelated to the subject matter of the domain name. Sedo maintains the right to review any and all keyword or related link submissions for relevancy and violating this policy can result in the suspension of your user account and deletion of any accumulated click balance. Sedo reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to deny any keywords or related links, to disable domain parking for any specific domain(s), and to void or demand repayment of a Click Balance, determined to be in violation of this Policy. For example, if the domain name is bicycles.com, the keywords or related links could be bicycle, bike riding, or outdoor sports. An inappropriate keyword or related link would be e.g. computer parts, because computer parts have no relation to bicycles.
Trademarks as Keywords or Related Links
Trademark law is designed to protect consumers from confusing and misleading use of the words and images businesses use to identify products to their customers. Sedo prohibits the use of trademarked terms as keywords or related links, or keywords or related links that would produce infringing advertisements when paired with a domain name. Only words and terms in their generic or descriptive sense may be used as a keyword or related link for a domain parked with Sedo. For example, if the domain name is bicycles.com, an inappropriate keyword or related link would be SCHWINN, because SCHWINN is the federally registered trademark of the Schwinn Bicycle Company. As stated in the above paragraph, appropriate keywords or related links would be bicycle, bike riding, or outdoor sports. If there are no relevant keywords or related links that would produce non-infringing content, the domain name may not be parked with Sedo's services.
Users are solely responsible for the advertisements displayed on their domain names. Before choosing a keyword or related link, Sedo strongly suggests performing a search of all relevant trademark databases because trademarks are protected in every country throughout the world. Once your domain is parked, users must review their parked pages to ensure the resulting combination of domain and advertisements do not breach the terms of this Keyword Selection Policy or Sedo’s Domain Parking Agreement.
If you are a rights holder and you think that the owner of a domain name participating in our Domain Parking program may infringe your intellectual property rights, please contact the owner of the domain name directly. You may also choose to submit a complaint to Sedo's RPP.
