What is an IDN (Internationalized Domain Name)?

An IDN is an Internationalized Domain Name, represented by local language characters.  Any domain name that contains characters that are not found in the English-based alphanumeric system (English letters, and numbers such as 1, 2, or 3) is considered to be an IDN.   The two major types of IDNs are below.

Latin-based Characters: Puny code encoding is used for ISO IDNs - domains containing Latin-based characters such as á, é, í, ä, ö, etc.  These domains can be listed in your account, parked and/or sold through Sedo's marketplace.

Non-Latin Characters: UTF-8 is a way of coding special characters and this type of coding allows for Asian and Arabic character domains to be listed in your account, parked and/or sold through Sedo's marketplace.

We are constantly updating the available types of IDNs that can be parked and sold through Sedo.  If you are unsure if your domain can be parked or sold, please contact us.
